FAW Football Leaders Award
Grassroots Awards
This online eLearning award provides a basic and engaging introduction to the organisation of football practices in a fun, safe environment with an emphasis on engaging with the young players of today.
The award provides learners with an opportunity to discover and consider the technical and social support that we, as coaches, can provide to our players, discussing various practical aspects.
These include: the importance of area size, practice transitions, progressions and regressions, as well as ensuring the learner takes a closer look at themselves, their role as a coach, and how they currently share the messages they provide players.

To access this course candidates must be at least 14 years of age.
For those coaching in Wales, individuals are not permitted to be left in sole charge of a football session until reaching eighteen (18) years of age. There must be an adult (18+) who has an enhanced DBS check for regulated activity through the FAW, in attendance at all times if children under the age of 18 are coaching. Upon reaching the age of sixteen (16) coaches must apply for a DBS check through the FAW.
Introduction to the Laws of the Game

This online eLearning module provides a basic and engaging introduction to understanding of the laws of the game.
The module provides an ideal learning opportunity for all those involved in our game, particularly those who are moving into game formats and age groups where a match official/referee is introduced for the first time.
Furthermore, completion of the module will provide a perfect opportunity for all who'd like to improve or refresh their knowledge on the laws of the game.

A six-hour practical course following on from your 5 Online Modules, providing a basic introduction to the Organisation and delivery of goalkeeper specific activities for our next generation of players.
The course will focus on developing candidate skills in the Organisation of practices in a fun, safe, learning environment and additional post-course electronic course resource(s) provided.

FAW Talent Identification

The FAW Talent ID Level 1 is a foundation award course providing insights to talent ID, scouting, governance and the 'welsh way'. An introduction to scouting that will assist and support you with the fundamentals of scouting. Irrespective, if you're currently involved in football scouting or aspiring to be one this foundation course has the relevant content that will allow you to gather knowledge and place you on the pathway towards the FAW Talent ID Level 2 that will be released this year.

A three-hour online course developing an awareness of first aid techniques within a football environment.
This course has been designed by the FAW Medical Department to meet the needs of grassroots football and the requirements of the FAW Club Accreditation Scheme.

A three-hour interactive on-course workshop to support candidates in developing good practice when working with children and vulnerable adults from across our sport.
The workshop will focus on identifying poor practice and recognising signs, symptoms and forms of abuse and how to react to concerns or disclosures. It will also provide advice on how to identify people and organisations that can help and provide support in such situations.

Our FAW C Certificate, Coaching Goalkeepers (Level Two), follows on from our FAW Goalkeepers Award (Level One) course.
This course will support your development in your ability to effectively plan, prepare, deliver and reflect on coaching sessions. through regular online modules, practical contact days and specific 1-1 mentoring through our accredited tutors. Online modules will also be followed by personal assignments to support your development away from course.
The course pre-requisites are a Valid FAW Goalkeepers Award (or equivalent level 1) along with a valid 1st Aid certificate and Safeguarding certificate.
The FAW reserves the right to refuse any applicant access to the FAW C Certificate, Coaching goalkeepers Programme if the applicant does not meet the required criteria.

FAW C Certificate
The FAW C Certificate is delivered utilising a variety of in-person education contacts, online workshops and off course mentoring sessions in regional hubs.
It is designed to educate candidates in the technical, physical, psychological and social requirements of modern football. It will develop candidates ability to plan, prepare, deliver and reflect on coaching sessions for the development of players.
Coaches will complete online modules and coursework throughout the course and be expected to deliver practical sessions, both on and off course. However, there is no formal assessment.

The FAW/UEFA B regional course is a seven-day course, completed over a seven month period. On the FAW/UEFA B Licence you will develop your game understanding and tactical knowledge via a combination of practical, on and off course theory, e-learning and distance learning. Post contact work is required in addition to an on course FAW/UEFA coaching assessment.

Continue on our coach education pathway with the first step onto the UEFA ladder. On the FAW/UEFA C Licence you will have the opportunity to further explore our welsh way principles and how they can be embedded into your coaching practices, introduce you to the four moments of the game (Attacking, Defending and Transitional moments) to increase your understanding of our game principles and provide you with practical examples of how to utilise general based sessions within your coaching practices to the benefit of your players.
You will be required to attend a combination of practical, on and off course theory and completion e-learning and distance learning.

The FAW/UEFA C Licence will provide you with the opportunity to further explore our Welsh way principles of play and how they can be embedded into your coaching practices through the use of general practices and small sided games. The course will also explore the 5 x pillars of our game while creating a greater understanding of how we can deliver the mechanics of our game's techniques to individuals and groups. We will also introduce you to the four moments of the game (Attacking, Defending and Transitional moments) to increase your understanding of our game principles and provide you with practical examples.

Central to the FAW/UEFA A Licence is developing the coach's capacity to utilise and apply reflective practice techniques. Coaches are encouraged to develop a personal philosophy that challenges and benefits players at their club. The course is framed within the Welsh Way principles, set-out in our National Syllabus, and designed to create coaches who plan and design meaningful practices, in varied contexts. The course is delivered through flexible teaching methods, over a 12-month period. It consists of three residential teaching blocks, arranged around the competitive season breaks. Support is provided between course times by dedicated FAW mentoring staff, who work on the individual needs of each coach. Coaches will also complete a series of online modules throughout the course. The UEFA A & Elite Youth A Licence Combined Course will enhance the education and increase the employability of coaches choosing the Coach Education pathway in Wales

The FAW/UEFA Pro Licence course is framed to prepare candidates to work as a modern-day manager or head coach. It is aimed at developing leadership and advanced interpersonal skills, in order to successfully implement a unique management style and philosophy. Pro Licence coaches are expected to develop advanced coaching techniques and the ability to work effectively in professional football.

The FAW National Coaches Conference is an annual event which attracts the biggest names in the game to discuss new ideas, trends and innovations in football coaching.
The 2-day event, which combines entertaining and insightful theory lectures with World Class practical sessions, also serves as revalidation for UEFA Qualified Coaches.
FAW First Responder for Sport (FRS)

The FAW Level 2 First Responder for Sports (FRS) course aims to provide the participants to build upon the knowledge and content of the FAW Level 1 Emergency Aid course. It aims to provide more thorough knowledge and understanding for First Aiders who will be the first on scene at any First Aid incident.
It will provide further learning for those who are within a sport or leisure environment for dealing with medical emergencies. It will also provide excellent underpinning knowledge for when a First Aider may be supporting a Health Care Professional. For example, coaches, parents or volunteers assisting a pitch side emergency practitioner.

The course is aimed at pre-graduate medical and allied health care professionals and those working within a sports setting. This includes Coaches, Managers, Sports Scientists, Strength and Conditioning Coaches and Sports Masseurs that may find themselves working with players in their role and helping the medical team where appropriate.
The skills delivered on this course will give the first aider a comprehensive understanding of life-threatening conditions within sport. The first aider will be able to provide and support lifesaving first aid when alone or when assisting a pitch side emergency practitioner.
FAW/UEFA FDEP Pitch-Side Trauma Course

The course aims to provide health care practitioners with the skills, knowledge and understanding to effectively deal with life threatening and limb threatening scenarios.
The skills delivered on this course will significantly reduce the potential risk placed on a club and health care professionals in the event of a catastrophic incident involving players or staff. Those appointed medical staff currently practicing without pre-hospital trauma training are potentially at risk. Not just to the club and themselves but also to the well-being of those in their working environment.
